Book Us

Looking for entertainment for your event? Whether there's a Georgian/masquerade theme or you'd just like something a bit different, we could be exactly what you need. To get in touch please contact us directly by clicking here - or for more details regarding what's involved, please read on:

Engaging

Our colourful costumes, toe-tapping music and constant movement captivate the senses and bring empty spaces to life. We dance with personality and enjoy making a connection with audiences - and seeing their reaction!

Unusual

Although some children recognise us as 'Gorgeous Georgians', most people haven't seen 18th century dance (or clothes) before, and as well as enjoying the spectacle also appreciate experiencing something new.

Customised

We always tailor our program to fit the space, schedule and occasion. From duets to large ensemble pieces, our extensive repertoire covers a range of tempos and styles, including simple dances that we can teach to audiences.

Reliable

We're an enthusiastic, well-organised group, and as an established company have built up considerable experience performing in all sorts of venues. We love what we do and can be depended upon to be punctual, polite and well-rehearsed.

What we do

If there's something you have in mind that doesn't appear here, please ask.

  • Public - family open days and evening balls
  • Private - wedding receptions, birthday parties, etc
  • Charity - fund-raising and awareness-raising campaigns
  • Corporate - company dinners and industry awards ceremonies
  • Arts - festivals, concerts, film and television

Skills

Demonstrating formal dances

In formal minuets, the dancers move in intricate geometric patterns with steps that reflect the magnificent baroque music.

Teaching informal dances

Country dances, or contradanses, are relaxed, simple and lively, and can be taught in a few minutes to audiences of all ages.

Presenting short readings

The Georgian ballroom was full of customs that seem strange today, and subjects such as the 'language of the fan' can be both informative and entertaining.

Performing short sketches

One of our associate members bears more than a passing resemblance to King George III, adding a regal presence to proceedings. And our gentlemen need little encouragement to fight a duel, which can include swords, pistols and even a blunderbuss!

Cost

Please contact us to discuss - we're a non-profit-making organisation and prefer to negotiate a contribution towards our expenses. For events outside London that require an overnight stay, our hosts usually help us in some way with accommodation. There's an extra fee if you'd like us to bring along our Dancing Mistress.

We use the money we make from performing to subsidise class costs, buy and maintain company costumes, and research original dances.

The process for booking

As an amateur group, we fit our dancing and admin around our day-jobs - the more notice you can give us, the more likely we are to be able to meet your requirements!

Making arrangements

We would love to hear from you if you're interested in booking us for your event. Please enter your details in the contact us page.
Our Secretary will get in touch to answer any questions you may have, confirm that enough dancers are able to attend, and agree the fee.

One of the dancers will be appointed the 'producer' for the event and will be your main point of contact with us. He or she will liaise with you to understand your requirements and factors like the size of the space, the expected audience and the length of time you'll need us to perform, so we can plan our program accordingly.

On the day

We like to do a rehearsal in situ so we can adjust our dances to the proportions of the room and do a sound-check (we'll bring an iPod for the music, but will need to use your speakers, and perhaps a microphone for leading any audience participation).

We'll have to start changing into our 18th century gear about an hour before the performance, for which a mirror and a somewhere to hang our costumes is useful.

During the performance itself, if we're dancing in an area where people are milling about or involved in audience participation, we're often grateful for some assistance with crowd control.

Afterwards

After the event, our Treasurer would be pleased to receive the agreed fee, and is happy to provide an invoice if required.

We're also keen to hear about any feedback you or audience members may have, so that we can continue to ensure every event is an entertaining, well-organised and unique experience.
